Missions at Home and Abroad
Supported by Redeemer Presbyterian Church - Ada, MI

Since its beginning, Redeemer Presbyterian Church has been committed to
setting aside 10% of all our general offering income as a tithe to support the work
of missions at home and around the world, and we have prayerfully selected
missions that represent a balance of foreign and local organizations involved in a
wide variety of kingdom work. Please join us in praying for the missions and
missionaries which we support! The following are some of those missions:

Biblical Counseling Center
Many area churches benefit from the ministry of the Biblical
Counseling Center and Rev. Ken Smith, an ordained pastor in the
O.P.C. Located in Jenison, Michigan, this ministry operates primarily
through the support of local churches.
Miriam Grady
Through Mission to the World, Miriam Grady is serving in Trnava,
Slovakia, teaching English as a Second Language as a means of
ministry to Slovak teenagers and their families.
Church Extension Committee of the O.P.C.’s
Presbytery of Michigan and Ontario
The Church Extension Committee of our Presbytery, or CHEX, is the
home missions’ arm of the regional church. Through our giving to
CHEX, we support regional home missionary Rev. James Bosgraf and
the planting of new churches in our region. Redeemer Church
received support through CHEX in our early days, and it is a joy to
now support the organizing of other new churches.
Mission Trips from Redeemer
Over the past five years, Redeemer Church has helped send its own
members on mission trips to Haiti, Slovakia, and Kentucky. Why do
we send out short-term mission teams?
• For the local church to participate directly in the Great
Commission from Matthew 28:18-20.
• To raise up future career missionaries.
• To assist the missionaries on the field.
• To increase our love for people of other cultures and our vision for
reaching them!
• Because we’ve been so blessed, and God calls us to be a blessing
to the world!
Haitian American Friendship Foundation
Over the past five years, Redeemer Church has sponsored five
mission trips to Haiti to work with the Haitian American Friendship
Foundation (H.A.F.F.), located high on the Central Plateau. We
support H.A.F.F.’s general fund which pays the salary for teachers at
the Christian school there and supports a variety of other ministries
in this needy area.
O.P.C. World-Wide Missions
Through Worldwide Outreach and the Hub-Spokes Missions
Committee of our Presbytery, we support missionaries in Canada,
China, Eritrea, Haiti, Japan, Korea, Suriname, and Uganda.
Worldwide Outreach is the denominational body of the O.P.C. which
supports Foreign Missions, while the Hub-Spokes Committee
supports specific needs and special projects of our O.P.C.
missionaries around the world.
Health Intervention Services (H.I.S.)
H.I.S., located on S. Division Ave. in Grand Rapids, is a very
encouraging Christian ministry offering low-income families
healthcare and counseling with the love of Christ.
Pregnancy Resource Center—Grand Rapids
What a privilege for us to support this vital mission in our
community to offer biblical alternatives to abortion! Through the
Pregnancy Resource Center, the gospel accompanies loving counsel
given to those in crisis pregnancies.
Keys Evangelistic Ministries—Key West, Florida
Since 1999, Redeemer has supported Pastor Bill Welzien’s dynamic,
evangelistic outreach efforts in Key West. Bill is often proclaiming
the good news of Christ in the open air of the famous Mallory
Square and also pastors an O.P.C. church-planting work on the Key.
Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian
organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people
around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet
needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters,
disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through
his Son, Jesus Christ.
Prof. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson--Prague
Through the International Institute for Christian Studies (IICS) we
support Dr. Tom Johnson and his wife, Leslie, as he teaches
Christian Studies at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
IICS, which places Christian professors in formerly communist
nations, has this philosophy: To change a country, teach the leaders.
To teach the leaders, go to the universities. Dr. Johnson is also an
ordained pastor in the P.C.A. and regularly returns with his family to
West Michigan.
Sowers International
Working largely in third-world countries, Sowers International works
with local churches to train them in evangelism using unique visual
tools such as the Sketchbook, and to assist them in planting
daughter churches.
MASLAG
MASLAG, led by Rev. Elou Fleurine, works to provide Bibles and
other ministry needs for churches which are working toward
becoming a new presbytery of the O.P.C. on LaGonave Island in Haiti.
Westminster Seminary in California and Philadelphia
All seminaries depend on the support of churches and individuals to
be able to make the cost of seminary education affordable for those
God is calling to the ministry. These two seminaries are major
channels in providing our denomination with pastors, missionaries,
counselors and trained lay people. In supporting these seminaries,
our mission dollars are spread throughout North America and the
world!
